The BPGA Fritz Reiter Match Play Championship tournament got underway at Belmont Hills. In opening round matches, Twilton Smith got past Brian Morris 5 & 4, while Scott Roy defeated Cleive Tucker 4 & 2. Quinton Sherlock defeated Chris Smith 4 & 3, while Daniel Augustus defeated Anthony Mocklow 8 & 7. Eric West defeated Andrew Bissell 4 & 2 and Paul Adams defeated David James 4 & 3.
Roy said, “The conditions were good out there today, the Greens played well and it was just about keeping your game together.”
“With the inclusion of defending champion “Steven Roy and Dwayne Pearman is only going to make this tournament even tougher, this is my first time playing and I am looking to go as far as I can,” concluded Roy.
