Pearman had a shaky start with a Bogey on the Second and a Double Bogey on the par 3 Fourth hole.
Pearman's swing and touch can back quickly though with a Birdie on the Fifth and a chip in Eagle on the par 5 Sixth to get back to even par.
After such an up and down start it was clear sailing from there with a Birdies on Nine, an Eagle on Twelfth and a Birdie on the Eighteenth for a 4-under par Round 66.
The closest challengers were Scott Roy and Daniel Augustus who both struggled a little with their putters en route to even par 70's.
The field was ranked accordingly to their scores today and make for some interesting matches tomorrow.
Steven Roy receives a bye for being Defending Champion, while Eric West may have his hands full with the unpredictable Andrew Bissell, Paul Adams and David James will have a rematch from last year’s Semi Final, and the long hitting Daniel Augustus will be up against the talent of Anthony Mocklow.
