St. George's Colts concluded their tour to the United States by celebrating as Under 15 Champions of the North Atlanta Soccer Association Boys' Classic.
In a rematch of their opening group game, St. George’s Colts were held for a long period by the Norcross Fury. Colts failed to covert on several chances that were created during the first half as Norcross defended stubbornly to go into the break 0 - 0.
Mid way through the second half Colts took the lead when Kodi Carlington's shot from inside the box was saved by the Norcross keeper initially and as the rebound fell to him he was fouled. Keshun Smith stepped up to convert from the spot giving Colts a 1-0 lead.
With 10 minutes remaining Steven Symonds scored a sensational goal from the right as he curled the ball into the top corner of the far post to make the score 2 - 0.
St. George's scored 14 goals in the tournament, with Smith finishing as the leading scorer with 6 goals. CJ Marshall finished the tournament with 3 shut outs, only conceding one goal during the opening match.
St. George's Advance in Classic
St. George's Colts have advanced to the finals of the North Atlanta Soccer Association Boys Classic Tournament.
Competing in the Under 15 Division, St. George’s Colts won both of their group games to book a place in the final despite having one additional group match to play.
After getting by the Norcross Fury 4-1 with goals from Stephen Symonds, Vashonte Wilson, Kodi Carlington and Nacori Smith the Colts followed up with another win in their second game.
Playing Birmingham United in their second match of the tournament St. George’s established an early advantage with a goal from Kyajee Wilson to take a 1 – 0 lead at the half. Nacori Smith and Keshun Smith added second half goals to seal the win 3 - 0. CJ Marshall recorded his 2nd shutout of the tour.
St. George's will now help determine the remaining team to advance to the final when they play Oconee FC Assault at the Mud Creek Soccer Complex.
With today's win the St. George's Colts record improves to 3-1-1 overall and 2 - 0 in tournament play.
