St. George's Colts Draw on Tour

The St. George's Colts Under 15 team played their 2nd match of the tour against the host Huntsville Futbol Club U15 boys on at the Merrimack Soccer Complex.

St. George's opened their goal scoring account for the tour when Kyajee Wilson scored early in the 1st half to give them the lead. Midway through the half the host HFC United leveled the score at 1 - 1 when the St. George’s defense was out paced by the United forward. The score remained 1 - 1 as the teams headed into the half time break.

During the 2nd half St. George’s continued to play with great improvement from their first match, moving the ball around well and putting the United defense under pressure.

Fifteen minutes into the half the host United took the lead when the center midfielder was allowed to pick up the ball with space at the top of the Colts box, finishing with a shot to the bottom corner that beat the diving Charles MarshallSt. George’s goal.

St. George’s continued to trade attacks with Keshun Smith distributing the ball very well from midfield for St. George's and with 10 minutes remaining in the match Nacori Smith went on a run down the left flank beating two players before being fouled inside the penalty area. Keshun Smith stepped up to the penalty spot to convert and level the score at 2-2.

The game ended with the teams tied to give the visiting St. George’s Colts their first points of the tour.

The group is being led by St. George's Colts Technical Director Richard Todd who said, “Earlier in the day the players enjoyed a tour of the US Space and Rocket Center, the #1 tourist attraction in Alabama.”

“Former Bermuda resident Gwen Williams was recently hired as the Alabama State Director of Coaching and is based in Birmingham,” concluded Todd.
