Lewis Named Berkshire MVP

IslandStats.com
In a recent all-school assembly Zeiko Lewis as well as several members of the Berkshire Boys’ Varsity Team took to the stage to receive awards for their performance throughout the 2009 season.

For the first time in recent years and maybe in the school’s history the Most Valuable Player Award went to a 9th grader Lewis.

One of the top youth players in Bermuda, Lewis finished his first season with 8 goals and 8 assists; however, it was his relentless work ethic, unmatched competitive drive, and ability to perform under pressure that made Lewis so valuable to the team.

The Most Improved Player Award went to Will Hearty who went from being the final man selected on the 2009 squad to a regular starter in the midfield by the end of the season. Hearty’s goal against Canterbury—a beautiful header off a corner kick—was a finalist for the best goal of the season.

The Coaches’ Award went to Hank Mason and Noah Sinkoff two players who set an incredible example for their teammates to follow throughout the entire season.

In a great senior class, there were two in particular who caught the attention of the coaches in the league and earned some noteworthy season-end awards from the leagues: both Andrew Borts and User Kushaina earned spots on the New England Prep School All-Star Team and the Western New England All-Star Team; in addition, Kushaina was picked to be on the Massachusetts All-State Team.
