In June last year the Bermuda Golf Tour began with the goal of creating constant tournament play for the island's golf professionals. The desire was to produce better results by locals in the larger golf tournaments.
With the success of last year it was decided to build upon the schedule and to run it between February and November. This was only possible with the generous sponsorship of Jack Daniels whom took over the title sponsorship and with the aid of Goslings and Flanagans restaurant.
The Jack Daniels Professional Golf Tour's future looks even brighter with the new addition of Daniel Augustus, this added talent the competition will be even greater and benefit all players.
The ‘Jack Daniel’s Professional golf tour gets underway at Mid Ocean club on Monday February 1st. This year it is anticipated that there will be around $40,000 of prize money up for grabs.
With the likes of Augustus, Scott Roy and Dwayne Pearman using the tour as a springboard onto the overseas tours, giving local professionals an opportunity to take them on.
The Tour is the official golf tour of the Bermuda Professional Golf Association, and it is hoped that along with the great work being done by the BGA, the level of golf played will be taken to the next level.
Tour Director’s Paul Adams and Andrew Bissell have an exciting schedule planned for the year with opportunities for amateurs to team up with the pros in some Pro-Ams later in the year.
We have some great sponsors for the tour in Jack Daniels and Flanagans and intend to support there products by holding our prize giving at Flanagans.
There is potential for one or two more sponsors for some special events if there is anyone interested.
We have a great website for the tour on www.bermudagolftour.org
