Michael Sims shot a Final Round 5-over Par 77 to finish T47th in the 92nd Michael Hill New Zealand Open.
Robert Gates saw a six-shot lead with 11 holes to play cut down by Australian Andrew Dodt in the final round of the Michael Hill New Zealand Open, but the American stood tall down the final two holes to win by a shot.
Sims started the day T29th at 5-under Par finished the round shooting two Birdies, eleven Pars. three Bogey’s and two Double Bogey’s.
Sims started out on the front nine shot back to back Bogeys on the Par 4’s 5th and 6th Par Holes, before a Double Bogey at the Par 5 ninth saw him make the turn at 4-over Par. Sims shot a Double Bogey on the Par 4 twelfth saw him drop to 6-over par, but Birdies on the Par 4 fourteenth and seventeenth saw him move to 4-over par, but a Bogey on the final hole saw him finish +5.
