Michael Sims shot an opening round Even Par 72 and is currently T83rd at the conclusion of Day One in the Michael Hill New Zealand Open.
Sims started out on the back nine and got off to a dream start when he shot a Birdie on the Par 4 11th Hole, but back to back Bogey’s on the Par 4’s 14th & 15th, combined with a Double Bogey on the Par 3 16th saw Sims make the turn three over par.
On the front nine Sims pulled it together, with a Birdie on the Par 5 1st Hole, but a Bogey on the very next hole sent him back to 3-over par for his round. Sims shot a Birdie on the very next hole and then he worked his way to Even par with back to back Birdies on the Par 4’s 5th & 6th Holes.
