It was announced in December that the Bermuda Football Association (BFA) and Bermuda Hogges have joined forces in the United States Soccer League, to have the Bermuda Hogges participate in the USL Premier Development League (PDL) for the upcoming 2010 season.
With other PDL teams already in preparation www.islandstats.com asked BFA Technical Director Derek Broadley a few questions.
Q. What plan is in place for players in college availability, as most work during the summer to make money for school?
A. In all case, we will deal with each player selected on a case by case basis and will address any and all issues pertaining to their participation with the team.
Q. Will the team be coached by the present Under 23 Academy Coach?
A. No coaching decisions have been made and when they are the details will be disclosed publicly.
Q. How many players do you feel the squad needs?
A. We will conform with the regulations of the USL with all attempts being made to gather a squad with the maximum allowable number of players based on our objectives.
Q. As the owners of the Bermuda Hogges what role are you expecting from Paul Scope, Shaun Goater and Kyle Lightbourne?
A. This is an internal matter from an operation standpoint. But one thing must be very clear and that is the Hogges hierarchy will remain critical and form a key component in the operation.
Q. What role will you play in the BFA/Bermuda Hogges setup?
A. I am the Technical Director for the BFA which implies that I will have some responsibility in the overall technical evolution of not only the Bermuda Hogges but all football under the auspices of the Association.
Q. When will the team begin preparing?
A. In the not too distant future!
