The Bermuda teams of Ebonie Burgess and Laura Robinson representing the Ladies and Jarryd Dillas and Nick Jones representing the men have started their second round of play in the America’s Cup Amateur World Championships at the Olivos Golf Club.

The Bermuda team currently sit 11th overall, with the Ladies in 12th and the Men moved up from 13th to 11th. Dillas said on his second round performance, “I putted well and made the most out of the day. I hit the ball all over the course but scrambled and made putts. The back nine is the best have played here. I am disappointed to have bogied two of the final three holes. Holding patients is the key down here and not to be intimidated by the quality and experience of the players”. Jones said, “I played better than yesterday mostly due to my driver. Although steady, my four 3 putts cost me what might have been a decent round. The fellows I played with where fantastic. Robinson said, “I drove the ball better on this tight course. I am still bothered by big numbers which happened when I just failed to get out of trouble and Burgess commented “Sadly it was another inconsistent day. I am trying to pull it together, and believe I will. When I seem to have it figured out I slip onto the bogie train and I keep missing my shots”

Robinson finished her first round shooting 15-over par 87 to finish 23rd, while Burgess is currently in 24th after her second round 15-over par 87. Robinson’s round included, 7 Pars, 8 Bogey’s, 2 Double Bogey’s and a Triple Bogey, while Burgess shot 5 Pars, 11 Bogey’s and 2 Double Bogey’s.

Dillas shot a second round 2-over par 73 to finish T11th up five places and is now six strokes off the lead, while Jones finished 25th after shooting 6-over par 77. Dillas shot 1 Birdie, 14 Pars, 3 Bogey’s, while Jones shot 2 Birdies, 8 Pars, 8 Bogey’s.
