Daniel Augustus shot a First Round 7-over par 79 in the Dixie Amateur Championships and is currently 107th.
The blistering winds that were expected at the Heron Bay Golf Club during today’s second round of the Dixie Amateur never arrived and the world’s best players took advantage of the mellowed course set up. While world top ranked amateur Blakes Morris doesn’t lead the event, the sixteen year old is in second only two shots back after a sizzling tournament best 64. Leading the pack is University of Illinios star Luke Guthrie who followed an opening round 67 with a 66.
Augustus and the rest of the field began their Second Round following the completion of the fields First Round this morning.
During his Second Round Augustus shot a 1-over par 73, to finish 10-over par for the tournament.
23 golfers who did not finish their rounds will Tee Off at 7:00am on Tuesday morning and once they are complete the top 60 players of 174 will battle for the Dixie Amateur Championship starting at 9:00am off tees 1 and 10 at the Heron Bay Golf Club.
Augustus currently sits well outside the top 60 spot so he has failed to make the cut.
