 Anthony Hunter in action IslandStats.com The Bermuda Select Team drew their second game of the CASL Tournament 3 – 3 against Gainesville Caimans.
Like the first game the team showed finesse dominating play and possession. With an extremely difficult surface, the Bermuda High School Select team controlled and distributed the ball extremely well, but went behind when the referee gave awarded Gainesville Caimans a penalty.
Tahj Bell made the initial save but was unable to stop the follow up giving Gainesville Caimans a 1-0 lead. Bermuda kept their composure and yet again dominated Gainesville Caimans with both the posts and crossbar being struck with efforts by Dante Leverock and Daniel Andrade.
Bermuda fell behind 2 – 0 when Gainesville Caimans beat the offside trap leaving a player to have a simple tap in.
Bermuda kept to their style of play and distributed and switched the ball evenly with a well placed cross Casey Castle scrambled the ball home to make the score 2 - 1. Late in the first half, a Senegalese player from Gainesville Caimans took a well delivered cross and headed the ball home. 3- 1.
With re-alignment and a few adjustments made by Coach Scott Morton saw the Bermuda Select Team claw their way back in the second half. A well taken strike by Anthony Hunter gave the team a lift and confidence early in the second half making the score 3 - 2. The posts and crossbars were definitely Gainesville Caimans best defender with all struck yet again several times.
Bermuda kept their shape, stuck to the game plan, when a strike from the left side saw Terryn Fray’s effort fly into the back of the net leveling the score at 3-3.
Gainesville were realizing that the Bermuda Team had control of the game and quickly sat back into their own half and cleared the ball at every opportunity, Bermuda yet again dominated with flair, confidence and precision forcing the keeper and defenders clear of the line. Unfortunately time was not on the Bermuda Select Team side to take their first victory. However a resilient, mature performance attracted yet again enquiries from overseas coaches.
