This year’s Goodwill Tournament is guaranteed to have an exciting finish as a noose tightens at the top in ALL divisions as windier conditions bring a host of clubs into contention setting up a very exciting finish tomorrow.
The Goodwill resumed third round play today after the participants enjoyed a day off yesterday with some taking to the course while others relaxing and enjoying the hospitality that Bermuda is known for.
The 3rd round was a bit more challenging for the players as the golf courses played slightly more difficult in windy conditions. The first and second round saw the calmest conditions of the tournament giving the players a false sense of security and setting them up for Bermuda’s version of “moving day”
Net Team – Junior Division
Local Club Riddell’s Bay Golf & CC composed of Professional Brian Morris, Allan E Richardson, Terry Mullan and Norman Wilson take a very slim one shot lead after completing their 3rd round at Tucker’s Point Club over Port Royal Golf Course going into the final round tomorrow. Riddell’s Bay is at 33 under par while Port Royal is one back on 32 under par. Overnight joint leaders Winchester Country Club out of Boston MA composed of Professional James Lane, Charles Hartnett, Carol Lowenstein Jr. and John Whitmore are still very much in the hunt on 31 under par NET after 3 days. Farm Neck GC hailing from Boston MA composed of Professional Kyle Fiore and amateurs Eric Flacucci, Tob Daigneault and John Fitzgerald are also sitting at 31 under NET after three days.
Net Team - Senior Division
Boston MA team Bear Hill GC lead by Ed Whalley Cosmo Trapani, Bob Young and Jim Heaslip have a slim 5 shot lead after recording a 9 under 61 today at Tucker’s Point Club giving them a three day total of 35 under par for the tournament. Sharon CC out of Boston MA, composed of Professional Fran Dzwilewski and Dick Morse, Peter Smith and John Paul Jones added a brilliant 59 today at Tucker’s Point to pull themselves into contention and make tomorrow’s final round and exciting finish. Four teams are tied for third place in the Net Division at 26 under par.
Gross Team – Junior Division
Three teams are tied at the top of the Gross Division ensuring that tomorrow’s finish will be a classic. All three teams are at 15 under par for the tournament, they are: Cyprian Keyes GC, Boston MA composed of Golf Professional Jack Gale and amateurs Dan Falcucci, Forrest Black and Peter Boler; Farm Neck, Boston MA composed of Professional Kyle Fiore, Eric Bertonazzi, Rob Daigneault and John Fitzgerald AND local club Port Royal GC composed of Golf Professional Dwayne Pearman and team mates Michael Daniel, Craig “Hollywood” Christianson and Mark Beasley. Wannamoisett CC A, Rhode Island and Riddell’s Bay G & CC are tied for 4th on 14 under par.
