Low Professional – Junior Division Riddell’s Bay Head Golf Professional, Brian Morris fired a 7 under par 63 and records 26 Stableford points to take a 3 shot lead after day one. In 2nd place is Alpine CC Head Golf Professional, Ed Kirby from Rhode Island on 23 points tied with Scott Roy who is representing West Shore CC out of PA after the original visiting professional had a family emergency and had to cancel at the last minute. Scott was able to fill in all to the joy of his team mates.
Low Professional - Senior Division Director of Golf representing The National GC A from Canada, Adam Brown posted 21 points today at Mid Ocean to set the pace in the Professional Senior Division. One shot back is Ted Griffin representing MA Club Woodland A team on 21 points after starting his round at the redesigned Port Royal Golf Club.
Low Professional - Ladies Division For the first time in the history of the Goodwill there is a ladies division with teams consisting of a Female Professional and three female amateurs. Leading the charge after round 1 is visiting female professional out of Weekapaug GC MA, Susan Bond posted took a slim one point lead today over rival and local Female Golf Professional Judith Astwood-Outerbridge. Susan recorded 9 points while Judith came in with 8 points This will be a close division right through to the end.
Gross Team – Junior Division Belmont Hills C Team lead by Craig Marsailles, Jimmy Decouto, Harold Madeiros and Arthur “Nookie” Lindo and Riddell’s Bay Golf Club lead by Head Golf Professional Brian Morris, Allan E Richardson, Terry Mullan and Norman Wilson sit atop of the Gross Leader Board after both teams posted a 9 under 61 today at Belmont Hills. Cyprian Keys GC, Boston MA Director of Golf and long time friend of Bermuda Jack Gale and his team Dan Falcucci, Forrest Black and Peter Boler are on shot back on 8 under 62 today also playing at Belmont.
Net Team – Junior Division Riddell’s Bay also lead the Net Division by one shot over 14 under 56 at Belmont Hills. Belmont Hills C and Country Club of Halifax who are the only club amongst the leaders that have not played their first round at Belmont are one back on 13 under par. Riddell’s Bay is lead by local Professional Brian Morris, Allan E Richardson, Terry Mullan and Norman Wilson
Gross Team – Senior Division Bedrock CC, Boston MA lead by Joe Carr, Tim “Hack” McDonnell and Rob Tidgewell and The CC of Salt Lake, Utah lead by Wayne Fisher, Neil Henderson, Dennis Runnoe and George Bradley share the lead at the top of the Senior Gross Division after both teams posted a 5 under 65 today at Belmont Hills. One Shot back is the Club out of Boston Bear Hill GC lead by Ed Whalley, Cosmo Trapani, Bob Young and Jim Heaslip after posting a 66 today
Net Team - Senior Division Boston MA team Bear Hill GC lead by Ed Whalley Cosmo Trapani, Bob Young and Jim Heaslip takes a commanding 7 shot lead after day one. Bear Hill posted a NET 8 under 52 today and taking full advantage of the calm conditions. The CC of Salt Lake out of Utah and Sharon CC out of Boston MA are at 11 under. All three clubs opened their account at Belmont Hills today. The CC of Salt Lake are represented by Professional Wayne Fisher, Neil Henderson, Dennis Runnoe and George Bradley. Sharon CC are lead by Professional Fran Dzwilewski, Dick Morse, Peter Smith and John Paul Jones.
