Joe Horowitz and Craig Marseilles both shot a new course record 7-under 63’s to begin round one of the Gosling’s Invitational at Belmont Hills. Daniel Augustus previously held the course record from last year’s tournament with a 6-under 64.
Returning Professional Kirk Hanefeld sits one shot behind on 64, 6 under.
In the Open Professional Division 2008 Joint winner Horowitz has set the pace again this year with full intentions on retaining the title on his own. Hanefeld is one shot back on 64. Former Bermuda Open Champion, Brian McCann fired a 4-Under 66 while new comer Billy Walsh posted a 2-Under 68. Scott Roy is the leading local professional posting a very respectable 2-Under 68. Scott represented Bermuda earlier in the year at the World Cup Qualifier.
Senior Professional Division
A new division this year with a total purse payout of $15,000 sees joint course record holder Marseilles to take a four lead over Delroy Cambridge and John Brott both posting 3-Under 67’s.
Junior Amateur
Defending Amateur Champion Augustus began his defense of his title with a 1-Over par 71 as did Camiko Smith. Both players represented Bermuda at the Aland Games earlier in the year as team mates. Kyle Lightbourne and host Malcolm Gosling are only two shots back after posting a 3-Over 73.
Net Division – Open Amateur
Lightbourne, Luis Gerardo and Gosling also lead the NET Division with 4-Under 66’s. Chris Garland and Shawn Knight are only 3 shots back however after posting a 1-Under 69 NET.
Senior Amateur
Jeffrey Lindo is on course to defend his title but he sits atop of the leaderboard with Allan E. Richardson and Glenn Kelly all posting 4-Over 74’s. One shot back is Adrian Crockwell.
Net Division – Senior Amateur
Richardson sits atop the Senior NET division at 7-Under two shots clear of Boston resident Jim Vaughan who posted a NET 5 under 65.
