Reiko Trott and the No. 7 and top seeded Lees-McRae College Bobcats men’s soccer team defeated the St. Andrews Presbyterian College Knights 8-0 in the Quarterfinals of the 2009 Conference Carolinas Tournament at Tate Field on Senior Day.
Prior to the match, Lees-McRae honored their five members of the Class of 2010: Berin Boracic, Ignacio Falco, Sean Paradise, Dylan Lawrence and Dale Parker.
Lees-McRae got on the scoreboard in the fourth minute when Jamie Price sent a cross into the box to Richard Guffens. Guffens brought the ball out of the air and finished to give Lees-McRae a 1-0 lead.
Four minutes later, Parker connected with a corner kick from Luke Staats to make 2-0. Eight minutes later on another Lees-McRae corner Staats found Price who played a quality cross to Guffens on the post for the goal.
The fourth goal came just two minutes later in the 19th minute, when Luke Perry played a pass to Sam Kennedy who laid it off to Boracic. Boracic launched a laser to the near post for the goal. Boracic struck again three minutes later on a Guffens assist. Guffens intercepted the St. Andrews’ goal kick and played the ball to a streaking Boracic for the one-timer to make it 5-0.
Lees-McRae scored their final goal of the first half when Jamie Bladen put a left footed shot into the net to make it 6-0 at the break.
Trott scored the first goal of the second half and his goal of the season.
The eighth and final goal of the match came on an own goal from a St. Andrews defender in the 86th minute.
