Freddy Hall – Quinnipiac University
Hall and the Quinnipiac University men's soccer team went down 2 – 0 at Monmouth, on the Great Lawn. The 2-0 loss was the first time Quinnipiac had been shutout in a loss in 2009 and dropped their record to 5-2-2 in Northeast Conference play. Monmouth moves into sole possession of first place in the conference standings with 22 points and a 7-1-1 mark. Quinnipiac are 8-3-6 overall this season, while Monmouth are 15-1-1.
Monmouth's MJ Allen scored his first goal of the season to give his team the 1-0 lead in the 18th minute of play. Freshman Ryan Kinne collected his sixth assist of the year on the goal. The two players ran a give-and-go pass play inside the 18-yard box that beat senior goalkeeper Hall to the near post.
Allen's second goal of the game put Monmouth up two in the 53rd minute of play. A free kick from 25 yards out beat Hall to the left side of the net and gave Monmouth the two-goal advantage. Hall finished the game with two saves
Zeiko Lewis – Berkshire
On the road again, Berkshire took on a solid squad from Hopkins School. It was a competitive match from the outset, and there was some good end-to-end action in the early going. Each team missed a good scoring opportunity in the opening minutes, but Berkshire was able to convert its second good chance in the 6th minute of playLewis split the defense with a beautiful pass onto the foot of User Kushaina who slotted in the first goal of the match. Later in the game Lewis stole the ball from Hopkins center back, broke free to the goal, and slid the ball past the Hopkins keeper. Less than six minutes later Berkshire struck again; this time it was Kushaina, scoring his second on the afternoon, off a pass from Kyle Lockwood for the 3 – 0 win.
Marquel Waldron – West Florida University
Waldron and the University of West Florida men’s soccer team battled a hard fought match to visiting Lambuth University on Senior Day but could not overcome an early deficit as they would drop their final regular season match 3-0. Lambuth University would score just 12 seconds into the match to put West Florida in a hole early, one which they could never recover. After the break Lambuth’s Daniel Rowlands and Daniel Erricson both scored headers on set pieces to give Lambuth University the 3-0 win.
