The Minute Maid Junior Open Boy’s 12 & Under Final was held over until today at the WER Joell Tennis Stadium. Chris Rego was crowned champion following his straight sets win over Courtland Boyle 6 – 3, 6 – 0.
Argus Open Tennis Tournament
The 2009 Argus Open Tennis Tournament got underway this afternoon at the WER Joell Tennis Stadium. In early Ladies Open Singles action saw Catherine Cooke defeat Eva Frazzoni in straight sets 6-2, 6-1, while in Men’s Open Singles action, favorites Gavin Manders, Andy Bray and Jenson Bascome all won the matches in straight sets. Manders had a very tough start to his match going down 3 – 0 in the first set before pulling the set back to 4 – 3, Manders eventually won the first set on a Tie Breaker 7-5, before taking control of the second set winning 6-2.
