Cuba reached the semifinals of the CBC Championship in Tortola. The event serves as the qualifying competition for the 2010 Centrobasket. As three top teams will advance, Cuba is already in the top 4. On Day 2 of the tournament Cuba defeated Bermuda 95 - 37 to improve their record to 2 & 0 while Bermuda are 0 & 2 for the tournament.
The favorites started with 23-7 to take the full control of the court in the first quarter. Cuba did not stop and outscored Bermuda 33-8 in the second quarter for 56- 15 advantage at the halftime.
The Cuban defense stopped Bermuda from scoring ten points in the first three quarters as Bermuda posted 9 points in the third quarter, while Cuba scored 21.
In the last period Bermuda scored 13 points but were still outscored by 5 the made the final score on the board, 97 - 35.
Geoffrei Silvestre paced the winners with 16 points. Alexis Labastida ended up with 12 and Yudniel Perez poured in 10. Aaron Jackson scored 14 points to lead Bermuda, while John Lee scored 6.
On day 3 of the preliminary round Bermuda face Antigua and Cuba takes on the British Virgin Islands.
