Lynn University’s men’s soccer team saw all five seniors garner Daktronics All-America recognition as announced. Lynn recorded the most selections in the nation, set a program mark with the five honors and tied the school record with three first team selections. Jean Alexandre, Tyrell Burgess and Lee Porter picked up first team accolades while Nano Short and James Hayers were third team honorees.

The previous Lynn record for All-Americans was four set in 1990 while the last time Lynn had three first team selections was 1993.

Alexandre, the Division II leader in points per game, notched 23 goals and seven assists for 53 points. His goal total was the fourth most in program history and the most since 1994. He was selected the Sunshine State Conference Player and Offensive Player of the Year.

Burgess enjoyed a breakout season for Lynn, scoring 10 goals and adding 10 assists for 30 points in the midfield. The First Team All-SSC selection surpassed Burgess’ previous career marks in every offensive category.

Porter continues to add to his already sterling resume in becoming the most decorated men’s soccer player in school history. The two-time All-American, three-time All-Region and four-time All-SSC selection tied a career-high with 11 goals while finishing third on Lynn’s with 27 points. One of the greatest clutch performers for Lynn, Porter scored 14 game-winning goals in four-years, second-most at Lynn.

Short earned Daktronics All-America Honorable Mention last year but set career-highs with 10 assists and 22 points while also earning First Team All-SSC honors. Hayers has twice been recognized as a CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American and rose to become one of the top left backs in the nation in 2008.

Sports information directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences sponsoring men’s soccer selected the Daktronics All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level with all first team All-Region picks advancing to the national ballot. This is the third year Daktronics has sponsored the NCAA Division II men’s soccer All-America and All-Region teams. A total of 33 student-athletes representing 17 different institutions filled out the three teams. The SSC garnered nine selections in total.

The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Lynn finished the season 18-2 overall, claiming the SSC regular and tournament titles.
