The future of the sport was on full display at the Port Royal Tennis Courts as the Temple of Tennis Junior Challenger Tournament reached a thrilling conclusion, with the island's finest young talents crowning a memorable week of high-quality competition.
In the premier junior division, Zach McGuire delivered a commanding performance to capture the Boys 18 and Under title. McGuire showed tremendous poise under pressure to defeat a resilient Tobiah Goodchild in a final that showcased the impressive depth of the local junior game.
The tournament also produced a standout individual campaign from Lee Terceira, who managed the impressive feat of reaching two major singles finals. Terceira claimed ultimate glory in the Girls 16 and Under division, where she defeated Arianna Parra to take the top spot on the podium.
Terceira was back on court for the Girls 14 and Under final, but this time she was thwarted by a superb performance from Chloe McBrearty, who played flawless baseline tennis to claim the age-group crown and relegate Terceira to a highly commendable runner-up finish.
In the Boys 14 and Under category, Trystan Thompson demonstrated his rising credentials by capturing the title after an entertaining battle with Manuel Maldonado-Jaime.
The younger age groups provided plenty of drama for the spectators packed around the Port Royal courts. Aliyah Costa emerged victorious in the Girls 12 and Under division, sealing her championship status with a hard-fought win over Amelie Carter.
Meanwhile, the Boys 12 and Under trophy went to Ethan Tucker, who capped off an excellent tournament by defeating Gelan Thompson in the final, ensuring that the next generation of tennis players left a lasting impression as the curtains came down on a spectacular week of youth sport.
