The W.E.R. Joell Tennis Stadium was the backdrop for a day of ruthless efficiency as the island’s top seeds stamped their authority on the W.E.R. Joell Memorial Tennis Tournament.
In the Ladies A division, Caitlin Conyers produced a display of controlled aggression to overcome Arianna Parra Delgado. Conyers took the opening set 6-3 before raising her level in the second, conceding only one game to wrap up a 6-3, 6-1 victory and signal her championship credentials.
The Men’s A category saw two of the most one-sided performances in recent tournament history. In Group 1, Wayne Montgomery continued his imperious form with a clinical dismissal of Zachary Mcguire. Montgomery dropped just a single game in the opening set before coasting through a flawless second frame to record a 6-1, 6-0 win. Not to be outdone, Jack Keyes delivered a perfect "double bagel" in Group 2, dismantling Florez Mariano 6-0, 6-0 in a match that lasted less than forty minutes.
Despite his earlier setback in the A division, Florez Mariano found redemption in Men's B Group 2. In a remarkable turnaround of fortunes, Mariano mirrored the scoreline of his previous defeat, this time acting as the enforcer to beat Osenotse Phenyo 6-0, 6-0.
The evening concluded with quarter-final action in the Men’s Doubles, where the pairing of Alex Cooper and Jack Keyes proved far too strong for Adam and Chris Grasso. The Cooper and Keyes duo showcased seamless chemistry at the net, surrendering just one game across both sets to secure a 6-0, 6-1 victory and a comfortable passage into the semi-finals.
