Phillips & Green Wave set for High-Stakes January Schedule

IslandStats.com
Bermudian standout Daniel Phillips is set to spearhead Tulane University’s charge into the 2026 spring season as the Green Wave officially unveiled a demanding opening month of competition.

Phillips, who transitioned to the professional ranks this past summer after securing his first ATP points in Turkey, remains a vital component of the Tulane roster for his junior year. He enters the spring campaign following a successful autumn that saw him claim key victories at the Blue Gray Invitational and advance deep into the ITA Southern Regional Championships.

The New Orleans-based squad will officially open their spring season on home soil on Saturday, January 17th, welcoming Southern to the City Park Tennis Center. The home opener provides an immediate opportunity for Phillips and his teammates to establish momentum before embarking on a challenging road stretch.

The intensity ramps up significantly in late January as Tulane travels to Oxford, Mississippi, for two high-profile encounters. On Saturday, January 24th, the Green Wave will face Charlotte in a neutral-site battle. This will be followed immediately on Sunday, January 25th, by a clash against host Ole Miss.

The meeting with the Rebels will be a particularly significant litmus test for Phillips, who previously defeated Ole Miss's Benjamin Martin in straight sets during the regional championships last October.

Tulane will wrap up their first month of the new year in Birmingham, Alabama, as they face UAB on Saturday, January 31st. The away fixture marks the final hurdle of the opening month and will be crucial for the team’s ranking ambitions heading into a busy February schedule.

Phillips, currently Bermuda's number one ranked player, has emphasized the importance of the team's professional environment and consistent training base at Tulane as he balances collegiate play with his professional aspirations. Fans in Bermuda will be watching closely as their top talent looks to guide the Green Wave through this relentless early-season gauntlet.
