Bermudian juniors Lee Terceira and Chloe McBrearty faced tough international competition at the 19th Annual "Little Mo" Internationals in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, which featured over 700 players from 65 countries. Both players showcased resilience and determination throughout the competitive tournament.
Lee Terceira opened her campaign in the Girls' 12 & Under Singles with an intense, two-hour battle against Isabelle Prusinkiewicz from Canada.
Terceira initially went down 6-4 in the first set, but fought back fiercely to win the second set 6-2. The marathon match was ultimately decided in a third-set tie-breaker, where Terceira unfortunately fell 10-6.
In the same division, Chloe McBrearty started strong, defeating Sowmya Varadharajan from Canada in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0. However, McBrearty's run ended in the second round, where she went down in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, to Isabel Correa from Venezuela.
Following her initial defeat, Terceira entered the back draw and demonstrated significant competitive resolve. She secured two dominant victories against American opponents, first defeating Ainhoa Mudarra 6-0, 6-0, and then beating Emily Shunko 6-1, 6-1.
Her semi-final match against the USA's Azah Gbugu was a thrilling comeback: Terceira rallied from a 5-3 deficit in the first set to win 7-6, before closing out the match 6-4 to advance to the final.
Terceira's run for silverware concluded in the back draw final, where she was defeated by Dominique Mateus of the USA in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0.
Both Terceira and McBrearty showed great resilience, competitiveness, and determination throughout the week against a highly international field.
