In a tense, two-day battle on the greens, Sienna Mosquera and her Lehigh University Women's Golf teammates displayed immense composure to snatch the team title at the Lehigh Invitational in New Jersey. Lehigh University delivered a clutch final-round performance at the demanding Trump National Golf Club, ultimately edging out rival Penn by a single, decisive stroke.
Lehigh finished the 36-hole tournament with a combined score of 609 (rounds of 306 and 303). This tight final tally was enough to secure the victory, with the team defeating Penn by a single stroke and holding off first-round leaders, Old Dominion, who finished two strokes behind the winners.
The narrow victory marks a significant milestone for Lehigh University, securing their first team title since their win at the SMSU Spring Classic back in March 2023.
Bermuda's first-year golfer, Mosquera, was part of the winning squad. Mosquera finished the tournament in 65th place, shooting a score of 169 (86-83). She showed resilience by improving her score in the final round, highlighted by making one birdie during her closing 18 holes. While the team title was built on collective strength, the contributions of every player were vital in such a closely contested one-stroke victory.
The success at the Lehigh Invitational provides a major boost of confidence for the Mountain Hawks as they continue to build momentum toward the heart of their season.
