Pettit Shocks Top Seed Mcguire in Dramatic Tennis Semi-Final

Day Three of the Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association’s (BLTA) Annual Back to School Tournament delivered high drama at the W.E.R. Joell Tennis Stadium, with a major upset headlining a day of thrilling semi-final action.
The biggest shock came in the Boy’s Under 18 Semi-Final, where 15-year-old Tristan Pettit staged a magnificent comeback to defeat Zach Mcguire, in a grueling three-set battle.
After dropping the first set 2-6, Pettit regrouped and dominated the remainder of the match, winning the next two sets convincingly 6-2, 6-1 to stun the top seed and advance to the final.
Pettit will face Tobiah Goodchild in the final after Goodchild secured his passage with a straight-sets win over Jadon Spriggs, winning 6-4, 6-4 in the other semi-final.
The girls’ draw also provided tense drama. In the Girls Singles 14 Semi-Final, Arianna Parra Delgado emerged victorious from a marathon three-setter against Isabella Neururer. After losing the first set 5-7, Delgado fought back to take the second 7-5, forcing a deciding 10-point tie-break which she claimed 10-5 to win the match.
Adding to his success in the Under 18 bracket, Tobiah Goodchild secured his place in a second final of the tournament by defeating Hasan Khan 6-2, 6-1 in the Boy’s Singles 16 Semi-Final.
The stage is now set for a compelling finals day, following a string of competitive matches that truly tested the resilience of Bermuda's top junior talent.
