Day Two of the Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association’s (BLTA) Annual Back to School Tournament delivered more decisive results at the W.E.R. Joell Tennis Stadium, with the top seeds starting to assert their authority in the knockout stages.
In the Boy’s Singles 14 Quarter-Finals, Manuel Maldonado booked his place in the last four after overcoming Oliver Anderson in a hard-fought straight-sets encounter. Maldonado managed to secure the win 6-3, 7-5, but was made to work hard in the second set before closing out the match and advancing.
The Girl’s Singles 14 division saw a performance of clinical dominance from the number one seed, Chloe Mcbrearty. Demonstrating her superiority on the day, Mcbrearty swept her Quarter-Final opponent aside with a flawless display, registering a comprehensive 6-0, 6-0 victory. Her strong display sends a clear message to the rest of the field as the tournament heads toward the semi-finals.
With the competition heating up across all age groups, the young players are battling hard for the titles in this key junior event on the local calendar.
