The Tulane University representative, who won a three-set thriller in his opening match, showcased a more dominant performance in the second round. Phillips took on Andre Steinbach from the University of Louisville, winning 6-3, 7-5.
Phillips demonstrated his powerful serving and aggressive groundstrokes throughout the match. He broke Steinbach's serve early in the first set to take a commanding lead before closing it out 6-3.
