Olivia Crooker scored the deciding point for the University of New England led by Head Coach Jovan Jordan-Whitter, with a 6-3, 6-2 win at #5 singles, as the University of New England women's tennis team remained perfect on its young, inaugural season with a 4-3 triumph over Lesley University at Blue Cyclone Complex.
The University of New England never trailed on the scoreboard after taking the one doubles point, however, the first match in the books went for the Lynx at #2. Madeline Frank and Nora Hill combined for a 6-3 result at #1 doubles to even things up, before Crooker and Alyssa Fritschka won 6-3 at #3 to solidify the point for the hosts.
Jessica Legendre, who was part of the successful doubles side for Lesley, got the visitors officially on the board at #2 singles. UNE regained the edge with wins from Zoe Lambke at #6 (6-1, 6-0) and Fritschka at #4 (6-0, 6-2), only to see the Lynx get one back at #3 to make the overall score 3-2. Frank played the longest set of the competition (12 games) in the opening frame at #1 but was clipped by Lesley's Mary Osucha, leaving it all on the racket of Crooker to bring home the team victory.
Between singles and doubles, Crooker is now 4-0 for the Nor'easters through two weeks, while Fritschka has come out on top each of the three times she has taken the court.
