The Bermuda Basketball Association (BBA) is set to host a landmark event for the sport on the island, with its first-ever 3x3 Tournament scheduled for Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the BHS Gymnasium.
The tournament is a significant step for the growth of 3x3 Basketball, a fast-paced and exciting format that has seen its global popularity surge. The single-day event will feature five different categories, designed to showcase local talent across various age groups.
Categories for competition will include Male Under 17, Female Under 17, Male Under 19, Female Open, and Male Open. This inclusive structure provides a platform for both youth and experienced players to compete.
To ensure a competitive environment, each category will require a minimum of four teams and will be capped at a maximum of eight teams. Each team can have up to four players and is guaranteed a minimum of four games, ensuring every team gets plenty of action on the court.
The event marks a new era for local basketball, embracing a format that is now part of major international competitions like the Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games. The BBA is hoping the tournament will serve as a springboard for further development of the sport on the island.
