Bermudian racer Aeziah Divine has shown remarkable resilience and determination at Round 5 of the Thruxton Race Circuit, bouncing back from a high-speed crash to set a new personal best and secure a strong finish.
The weekend got off to a dramatic start for Divine. During a quick lap in the first practice session, a sudden braking manoeuvre to avoid another rider led to a fall at an estimated 110 mph. Thanks to his safety gear, Divine walked away unscathed, explaining: "Thanks to DRC Race Leathers, I walked away without even a scratch after landing hard on my shoulder."
Despite the setback, his team worked tirelessly to rebuild his bike for the second practice. Though a mechanical issue limited his track time, Divine pushed on, battling grip issues in qualifying to secure a 22nd place start with a time of 1:25.699.
Race one saw him once again finish in 22nd, but with the determination to end the weekend on a high note, Divine made a significant breakthrough on Day Two. He improved his times, dropping into the low 1:24s and finishing 15th in a session.
The final race was where Divine truly shone. Starting from 22nd on the grid, he battled hard within a large group of riders. "I climbed up 9 places at one point to 13th to lead the second group," he said. The race became a thrilling multi-rider battle for position, with Divine eventually crossing the line in 16th place. He finished just 0.024 seconds outside of the points, a testament to his fighting spirit.
Divine concluded a challenging but ultimately rewarding weekend on a high note. "A massive shout out to the team who went all in to make sure my bike was on point for the races," he said. "I set a new PB time getting into the 1:23s and learned a lot this weekend." His performance is a testament to his courage and the support of his dedicated team.
