Bermuda's Under 12 Girls' and Boys' tennis teams continued their campaigns in the 2025 International Tennis Federation (ITF)/COTECC Sub Region 3 competition in the Dominican Republic, battling not only their opponents but also persistent rain delays throughout the day. Despite the interruptions, both squads delivered impressive performances.

Girls' Team Secures Another Dominant Victory

The Bermudian Girls' squad, led by captain Steve Bean and featuring Chloe McBrearty, Lee Terciera, and Arianna Parra Delgado, continued their superb display, securing another convincing 3-0 victory over the Bahamas.

Arianna Parra Delgado, playing in the No.1 Singles spot, defeated Lisa-Anne Sampson in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1, setting a strong tone for the tie. Following suit, Chloe McBrearty delivered another dominant performance in the No. 2 Singles spot, proving too strong for Londyn Mortimer with a straight-sets victory of 6-1, 6-1.

The clean sweep was then completed in the doubles rubber, where the pairing of Lee Terciera and Chloe McBrearty combined effectively to defeat the Bahamian duo of Kennadi Major and Lisa-Anne Sampson in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. This marks another strong showing for the Girls' team in the tournament.

Boys' Team Leads Match Suspended by Rain

The Bermudian Boys' squad, led by captain Evan Heyliger and comprising Trystan Thompson, Oliver Anderson, and Manuel Maldonado, also started their match against the Dominica Two team strongly before rain brought an early end to the day's play.

Oliver Anderson gave Bermuda a 1-0 lead after a commanding performance in the No. 1 Singles spot, defeating Derek Javier Diclo 6-0, 6-0. Trystan Thompson then doubled Bermuda's lead, defeating Dilan Canario in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0, in the No. 2 Singles spot.

The doubles match, featuring Manuel Maldonado and Trystan Thompson, was underway with the Bermudian pair leading Dilan Canario and Jose Ureña 6-3, 2-1 when rain forced the suspension of play. The match will conclude tomorrow, with Bermuda holding a strong advantage.

Despite the challenging weather conditions, both Bermuda's U12 Girls' and Boys' teams are showcasing their talent and determination on the international stage, promising more exciting tennis as the tournament progresses.
