The first night of finals at the Deloitte Open Tennis Tournament at the Pomander Gate Tennis Club delivered a mix of drama and decisive victories as champions were crowned.
In the Men’s Singles 45 & Over Final, Michael Toyer emerged victorious in an unexpected turn of events. His opponent, Kendall Stephenson Cuffy, had built a commanding lead, taking the first set 6-1 and leading 4-2 in the second. However, Cuffy was unfortunately forced to retire from the match, handing Toyer the title.
Meanwhile, the Mixed Doubles All Levels Championship saw Gregory Chambaz and Erika Bove crowned champions. They delivered a strong performance to defeat the pairing of Evan Heyliger and Nadhira J Durham in straight sets, winning 6-4, 6-3.
