For the sixth time, the CIAA Women's Tennis Finals saw Shaw University and Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU) lock horns, and it was Shaw who emerged victorious, defeating Airez Gilbert-Simons and her JCSU teammates 4-0 to claim their 14th Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Championship.
Shaw University established an early advantage by securing the doubles point. Their duos triumphed in the second and third doubles matches, winning 6-1 and 6-4 respectively to put them ahead.
Carrying their momentum into the singles matches, Shaw continued their dominance. They clinched victories in the third and fifth singles matches, sealing the overall 4-0 win and securing their seventh consecutive CIAA Women's Tennis Title. Despite a strong season leading up to the final, Gilbert-Simons and her JCSU teammates were unable to overcome a determined Shaw University side on this occasion.
