The Bermuda Police Service recently announced Peter Philpott as the 2012 Police Constable of the Year.
With the current Bermuda Police Service Policing Plan and its focus on Guns, Gangs, Drugs and Violence; coupled with the Police Week theme of “Building Partnerships for a Safer Community” this year’s recipient Philpott has concentrated and applied themself with these performances indicators in mind.
Philpott’s work in the community has earned them recognition and praise from the area residents in which they work and from the Commissioner of Police. Over the past year this recipient has been directly involved in the formation of Neighborhood Watch Programmes and has provided valuable insight to investigators dealing with a number of serious crimes. Philpott is a qualified English Cricket Board level 2 coach and have assisted in coaching the Bermuda Under 15 National Cricket team that went to England this year on a cricket tour and Philpott also coach Cleveland County Cricket Senior Team who play in the Bermuda Cricket Board Premier League.
It was Philpott’s performance back on September 23rd that kept Cleveland County in the Premier Division when he scored 64 runs and then returned bowling figures of 7.4-1-17-3 in Cleveland County’s 29 run victory over the Western Stars.
Philpott was the assistant Coach of the Bermuda Women’s Cricket team that played in the World Cup Qualifiers in South Africa in 2008. It was the first time ever that a woman’s cricket team from Bermuda made it that far. Philpott also hold a ’B’ licensed coaching certificate for Football and coached the Men and Women Police soccer teams.
