The Fed Cup Americas Zone Group II continued in Ecuador to Mexico, as Bermuda went down 3 – 0.
The Round-robin tournament has Ten nations in two pools with the Top nation in each pool playing plays-off against runner-up in other pool, with two winning nations promoted to Americas Zone Group I
Caitlin Gordon took to the court first at the National Tennis Club, Guayaquil, Ecuador going down in straight sets 6 – 1, 6 – 2 to Mariana Demichelli Vergara.
Tara Lambert then took to the court, looking to get Bermuda back on level terms, however she was defeated in straight sets 6 – 0, 6 – 0 by Bianca Botto.
With Bermuda down 2 – 0 they were looking to get on the scoreboard in the doubles as Tara and her sister Jackie Lambert took on Demichelli Vergara & Ximena Siles Luna Violeta. The Lamberts lost the first set 6 – 0, before going down in the second set by the same score.
Zaire Simmons
Defending Class 1A state champion American Heritage-Delray defeated Simmons and host Sagemont, 4-0 in the regional final at the Weston Tennis Club.
Simmons lost her match in straight sets 6 – 1, 6 – 1.
