Four of Bermuda’s young Motor Cross Riders are attempting to qualify for the 29th annual AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships, at the legendary Loretta Lynn Ranch in scenic Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. This year's Championship will take place on August 2 - 7, 2010.
Jonte Smith, Jayden Ming, Jiyre and Senoj Mitchell have all taken part in racing recently.
Competing in the 7 - 8 AMA 2 Stock class at the DOUBLIN GAP MX PARK, INC. - Area Qualifier Senoj Mitchell did not finish either race he entered as he had problems with the bike.
However brother Jiyre Mitchell finished 3rd in the 65cc 10 - 11 Stock class at the same Area Qualifier, he finished 6th in race one and 4th in race two, he then raced in the 85cc 9 - 11 Stock class again finishing third overall, this time he won race one, before finishing fifth in race two and then in the 85cc 9 - 11 Modified class he finished 3rd twice to place third overall.
Ming competed in the 51 (7-8) AMA 2 Stock at the IRON CITY MX - Area Qualifier. Ming finished 15th in race one and 14th in race two to finish 16th overall.
Smith competed in two Moto’s finishing 41st overall in the 250cc Stock IRON CITY MX - Area Qualifier, with finishes of 18th in race one and he did not start race two, Smith then finished 55th overall in the 250cc Modified IRON CITY MX - Area Qualifier, Smith did not finish race one and did not start race two.
