The Bermuda Lacrosse Association first game of the 2009 Dark n Stormy Champions Cup was played at the Bermuda College Field.
The first half of the game was a defensive battle as the Rumrunners only managed to score twice. The DNS Rangers led 5-2 after 30 minutes of play. Ken Winford of the Rangers had 3 goals in the first half while Steve Velotti was a virtual stone wall in net.
Not to be outdone, the Rumrunners sent Rick Fields and Doug Bell into the crease for a relentless attack to start the second half and managed to draw the score to even midway through. Despite pulling their goalie in an unprecedented Bermuda field lacrosse move late in the game, however, they could not keep up with the barrage of goals from Mike Formas, Winford, and long stick middie Barry Lohan as they fell, 9-6.
