Bermuda improved to 2 – 0 in the Davis Cup by Ratuken Group 4 Competition qualification leg for the World Cup of Tennis in Trinidad.
Bermuda team of Gavin Manders, James Finnigan, Trey Mallory, and Tariq Simons took on Antigua and Barbuda in their second match, coming away with a 2 – 1 win.
Mallory got Bermuda off to a good start defeating Cordell Williams in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. This match took 55 minutes to complete, Mallory had 3 Aces, but he also had 2 Double Faults. Mallory got 66% of his First Serves In, he also executed 5 of 7 Break Points at 71%.
Simons took on APTA tour-ranked player Jody Maginley, and went down in straight sets 6-0, 6-3. Simons’ match took 1 hour and 10 minutes to complete, Simons had an Aces, but he did have 2 Double Faults. Simons got 76% of his First Serves In.
With the match even at 1 – 1 the Doubles would be the decider with Manders and Finnigan taking on Kyle Joseph and Maginley, Manders and Finnigan won in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 in a 1 hour and 24-minute battle.
