Shelby Madeiros’ Siena Women’s Tennis teammates opened up their spring season at the USTA National Tennis Center against the St. John's Red Storm.
The defending MAAC Champions took their first dual match loss of the season in a 4-0 loss in Flushing.
Madeiros was not part of the team as senior Meagan Brown and freshman Laia Giralt had a strong showing at #1 doubles early on despite a 6-4 loss. St. John's took a 6-1 win at #2 doubles to steal the first point of the day before moving to singles play. The third doubles match finished tied 4-4 with Siena up 40-30 before St. John's clinched the point.
In singles, Brown would face #112 nationally-ranked Mouna Bouzgarrou. Siena would also take losses at #3 and #5 singles, with the other matches gaining no result once the Red Storm clinched the win.
