Kent batted first and scored 296, before bowling Sussex out for 186. Rawlins did not take part in the first inning, he would however make a big impression in the Kent second inning. Kent scored 312 in their second inning thanks to an Alex Blake inning of 213 off 215 balls, Rawlins did finish the inning with figures of 26-3-94-5.
