Aon’s Annual Brokers Versus Underwriters Charity Cricket Match took place at the National Stadium, with the Brokers emerging as champions and taking a 2 – 1 lead in the matchup.
This is the third time the event has taken place and the charities chosen this year were The Bermuda Sloop Foundation for the Brokers and The Bermuda Cricket Board for the Underwriters teams, with a focus on the junior players.
Batting first the Brokers scored 133, with C. Watson and A Seth scoring 38 and 36, the pair put on 66 run second wicket partnership. M Wetherhill was pick of the Underwriters bowlers with figures of 5-0-12-2, while J Hughes bowled 4.2-0-15-2.
In reply the Underwriters could only manage 80, going down by 53 runs. Only two batsmen reached double figures for the Underwriters, N Boorman scored 15 and G Davis added 13. A Calder-Smith was the pick of the Brokers bowlers with figures of 3-1-8-3, while K Wookey bowled 3.3-1-16-3.
