The Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) and Chivas Regal, the leader in quality blended scotch, announced the winner of the weekly Chivas Cricket Sportsman Award (CCSA).
Once again with no Printing Press onsite of the presentation, the BCB confirmed that the winner of the award for week 13 is Allan Douglas Jr of Cleveland County.
Captain of Cleveland, Douglas was bowling the 33rd over of the Southampton Rangers’ innings. During the over, Derek Brangman, the Southampton Rangers’ non-striker was running through for an attempted single when he collided with Douglas.
Due to the collision when Douglas threw the ball to the wicket-keeper Brangman was still out of his crease. Before the wicket-keeper broke the wicket Douglas quickly stated to the umpire that he will not be appealing for the run-out (despite it being within his right to do so). The Cleveland team accepted their captain’s decision.
For his commitment to the spirit of cricket and act of sportsmanship in a tense game, Allan Douglas Jr. has been selected as the Chivas Sportsman of the week.
The Chivas motto is ‘Live with Chivalry,’ and cricket is renowned for being a gentleman’s sport.
Only the best for the best, Chivas 18 is a uniquely rich and multi-layered blend that includes over twenty of Scotland's rarest single malt Scotch whiskies.
