Bermuda loss the toss and were sent to bat in their in their fourth ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier match at the at ICC Academy Ground in Dubai.
Bermuda were bowled all out for 101 as Afghanistan’s spinners bowled restrictive spells and picked up seven of the ten Bermuda wickets. Lionel Cann was the top scorer with 28 off 23 deliveries, Cann hit 1 four and 2 sixes in his inning, while Jacobi Robinson hit two fours in his 15 ball 13 run knock and Chris Douglas was the only other batsman in double figures with 12 from 12 that included two fours. Samiullah Shenwari was the pick of the Afghanistan bowlers with figures of 4-0-20-3, while three other bowlers picked up two wickets apiece.
In reply opener Mohammad Shahzad was the top scorer with 60 not out as Afghanistn scored 104/2 in 9.5 overs, Shahzad’ runs came off 36 balls and included two sixes and nine fours, Mohammad Nabi added 33 off 16 deliveries. Janeiro Tucker returned figures of 1.5-0-16-1 and Kamau Leverock bowled 2-0-21-1. The win saw Afghanistan record their third win in the competition, while Bermuda fell to 2 & 2.
