A goal from John Barry Nusum in the third minute has given the Hogges a 1 - 0 lead. Nusum beat Emilio Zelaya the Monarch goalkeeper with a shot from some 30 yards out. In the 19th minute the game has been suspended for lightning.
After more than hour delay the players are back on the field. .
In the 25th minute Nusum was giving the Monarchs defense more problems with his size and strength but they manages to clear the ball out for a throw. 31 minutes down and a Blenn Bean shot from a distance went wide. In the 40th minute the Rain that is associated with a front moving through has picked back up, just as the Monarchs equalize. Nilson Perez collected a pass just inside the Hogges box his shot was deflected but ended up in the back of the net to make the score 1 - 1.
In the 49th minute Victor Ramirez comes in for Stephen Basso for Maryland, but lightning strikes 15 seconds later and the game was suspended again, the referee stopped the game with score 1-1, but moments later brought the teams back on the field creating confusion.
In the 58th minute Stephen Astwood had a shot saved by Zelaya, four minutes later Astwood picked up a yellow card. Two minutes later the Hogges Jared Peniston had a shot which was blocked out by Devlin Barnes for a corner. The corner was almost swung into the net, but Zelaya made the save. The Hogges continue to pile on the pressure as another low shot saw Zelaya push it on to the post before the ball is cleared.
All the Hogges pressure has paid off as they take the lead 2 - 1 in the 70th minute. Kevin Richards beat the offside trap and slots past Zelaya, the Monarchs all asking for offside, but it isn't given.
At 12:40am Bermuda Time, and in the 76th minute of the game the match was called because the lights have to be turned off at this hour. Final score Bermuda Hogges 2 Real Maryland 1
