CellularOne announced that they have signed on as division sponsor of the Island Soccer League (ISL), Bermuda’s first professional soccer league. As part of their sponsorship, CellularOne is providing ISL with a financial and product donation valued at $50,000. The sponsorship funds will be used to manage the event and the merchandise will include cell phones, Personal Digital Assistance devices (PDAs) for the committee and coaches, as well as voice and data service.
The ISL season will run from May through July, with the first season kicking off on June 2nd. A total of eight teams will play six regular season games on evenings and weekends. The ISL championship playoffs will follow the regular season. The All-Star game will take place on Saturday, July 26th. All games will be played at the National Sports Centre on a modified field specifically designed for the ISL.
Michael Leverock, COO, CellularOne, said, “CellularOne is once again delighted to be involved with Bermuda’s first professional soccer league. As football is a national sport here in Bermuda, we wanted to get involved to assist these aspiring young players. We’re very excited for this summer’s games and we invite everyone in the community to come down to National Stadium and watch the sports events.”
David Bascome, ISL Commissioner and indoor professional soccer player, said: “I would like to thank CellularOne for once again supporting the ISL. I would certainly not be able to run a league such as this without the generous support from CellularOne. They are a great corporate citizen and I know the players will be just as grateful as I am for enabling this exciting event.”
There will be giveaways at the events and there will be in-store surprises during the ISL tournament.
