 Stacy Babb to Bowl them over in T&T IslandStats.com The Bermuda Cricket Board today announced the following players Stacy Babb, Rickelle Smith and Shuntae Todd, will be attending the ICC Americas 2008 Academy and Training Camp at the Sir Frank Worrell Development Centre in Trinidad and Tobago, from May 18 - May 29, 2008. Reuna Richardson was originally chosen to attend the academy; however, due to school commitments she is unable to take part.
The Bermuda Cricket Board is also pleased to announce that National Women's Team Manger, Cinda Bobb, has been invited to the ICC Americas 2008 Academy and Training Camp as the Americas Region, Team Manager. Bobb comes to the position with a wealth of experience, a former Captain for St. Vincent National Women's team, the Women's National Team Manager for the West Indies Women's Team and the St. Vincent Women's National team, the Treasurer for the West Indies Women's Cricket Federation, a member of the Women's Development Committee on the West Indies Cricket Board and former Vice President of the St. Vincent Cricket Association. Whilst at the Academy, Bobb will assess the girls who are on trial for the Americas Women's Team that will compete in the West Indies Cricket Board Under 19 Tournament.
The programme will be run by Ann Browne-John, ICC Women's Committee Representative, former West Indies Captain and Level 2 WICB Coach, and assisted by former international players and qualified coaches, Stephanie Power and Jasmine Sammy. The girls will have 10 days of intensive training, education, game situations and will be trying out for the West Indies Cricket Board Under 19 Tournament. National Women's Team Player, Smith said, "I was really excited to hear that I was selected to attend the Academy and Training Camp. Having the chance to play with other players from more experienced teams really pushes me to perform better. This is a great opportunity for me to develop and focus on my game and I am looking forward to the experience."
"To train at the Academy is a great opportunity for me to learn more about cricket. I will get more one-on-one batting, fielding and bowling instruction to improve my technique. I look forward to being able to bring back some of the skills I will learn to the National team and to the young girls in the National Development Squad," said Babb
President of the BCB, Mr. Reginald Pearman, said, "We are very pleased that Bermuda is able to send three promising young cricketers to the ICC Americas Region Academy and Training Camp. The camp will provide an excellent opportunity for them to focus on all areas of their game, whilst, at the same time mixing with other players from around the region. I am confident they will make the most of this opportunity and learn a lot from the experience. I look forward to the continued growth of women's cricket in Bermuda at the National level and I hope this Academy will provide another boost to our flourishing grass roots level programme."
