League leaders Last Pin tightened their grip at the summit of the Second Spring Senior Bowling League with a solid 3-1 victory over basement side Pinsplitters at Warwick Lanes, on a week defined by decisive sweeps and defensive grit across the standings.
Entering the round as table-toppers, Last Pin faced an eighth-placed Pinsplitters outfit determined to disrupt the status quo. While the underdogs managed to snatch a hard-fought single point on the lanes, Last Pin’s consistency down the stretch secured the match and preserved their advantage at the head of the division.
The standout performance of the fixture list, however, belonged to third-placed New Comers. Delivering a ruthless display against seventh-placed Star Lites, New Comers conceded nothing on their way to an emphatic 4-0 whitewash, collecting maximum points to apply serious pressure on the top two.
Second-placed Islanders ensured the chasing pack remained within striking distance of the leaders, overcoming sixth-placed Blue Angels 3-1. Blue Angels offered stern resistance to take a frame, but the title-chasers found their mark when it mattered most to keep pace with Last Pin.
Elsewhere in the mid-table skirmish, fourth-placed Drifters edged out fifth-placed Just Kickin 3-1 in a closely contested encounter. The win provides Drifters with valuable breathing room in the upper half of the table, while Just Kickin will look to rebound after letting key frames slip away.
