AJ Harris and his Teesside Lions teammates suffered a frustrating setback in Division Two Men's League action, falling 85-79 in a closely contested battle against Nottingham Athletic.
Despite valiant offensive contributions from Ryan Flauto and Luis Costa, the North East outfit were unable to rein in a resolute Nottingham side in the closing stages.
Flauto led the charge for the Lions with a standout 24-point performance, while Costa provided heavy scoring support with 21 points of his own to keep Teesside within striking distance throughout the contest.
However, Nottingham countered with clinical execution at the other end. Manpreet Hundal matched Flauto's tally with 24 crucial points to pace the hosts, ably assisted by Jarrod Henriques, whose 18-point haul proved decisive in tipping the momentum in Athletic’s favour down the stretch.
The defeat leaves Harris and the Lions with plenty to ponder, having pushed hard in a six-point contest that was decided by fine margins in the final minutes.
