Bermuda international Logan Jimenez and his Hibernian Development Squad teammates suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against William Hill League One side Queen of the South in their second KDM Evolution Trophy league phase encounter at Palmerston Park.
In a tightly contested affair in Dumfries, the young Hibees held their own for long spells against senior opposition before Brodie Dair’s strike just before the 70-minute mark proved the difference.
Both sides traded chances in an evenly matched opening hour, with Hibernian looking to bounce back from their opening-round loss to Clydebank a fortnight ago.
However, Queen of the South found the decisive breakthrough with just over 20 minutes remaining when Dair found space to slot home the winner for the hosts.
Hibernian Development Squad head coach Darren McGregor was forced into two changes from the side that featured at Holm Park.
Adam Buckley and Reiss Downie were drafted into the starting lineup to replace Jacob MacIntyre and Josh McDonald, with the latter sidelined after picking up an injury during the previous fixture.
The young Edinburgh side will look to regroup ahead of their next KDM Evolution Trophy fixture, where they travel to face Berwick Rangers.
